Step-In

Delete your account

Step-In is published by Zentryx Labs. This page explains how to delete your Step-In account and everything held against it, whether or not you still have the app installed.

If you still have the app

This is immediate and needs nothing from us.

  1. Open Step-In, go to the Me tab and tap the settings gear.
  2. Scroll to Account.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm. You will be asked to pick your Google account again — that is Google checking it is really you before something irreversible happens.

The dialog offers a second, optional choice: also erase everything on this phone. It is off by default. Leave it off and your weigh-ins, meals and activities stay on the device after the account is gone; tick it and the app is returned to how it was the day you installed it.

If you no longer have the app

Email us from the address you signed in with, so we can tell which account is yours. Put Delete my account in the subject line.

We will confirm by reply and complete the deletion within 30 days, usually far sooner. We do not ask why, and we do not try to talk you out of it.

If you cannot write from that address, tell us the one you used and we will ask you for something that shows the account is yours. We would rather be awkward than delete the wrong person's records.

What gets deleted

DataWhat happens
Your account Deleted. The Google sign-in identifier, email address and display name are removed from our authentication provider.
Cloud backups Deleted. Every backup held for your account, including older ones, and the document they are stored under.
Data on your phone Only if you ask. Deleted immediately when you tick the option in the app; otherwise it stays on the device and uninstalling the app removes it.

What is kept, and for how long

Nothing about you is kept for a retention period after a deletion. There is no shadow copy, no archive and no analytics profile — Step-In has no advertising or analytics SDK in it at all. Deleted backups may persist for a short time in our hosting provider's routine encrypted infrastructure backups, which roll over on their own and are not accessible to us as individual records.

Food searches you typed are sent to the FatSecret Platform API to fetch results. They are sent without your name, email or account identifier attached, so there is nothing in them for us or for FatSecret to tie back to you after your account is gone.

Deleting without deleting your account

You do not have to close the account to get rid of data. Inside the app, individual weigh-ins, meals and activities can be deleted one at a time, and signing out stops any further backups while leaving everything on the phone where it is.
